COUNTRY
MUSIC CHRISTIANITY
Who is a
wise man and induced with knowledge among you? Let him shew out of a good
conversation his works with meekness and wisdom.
James 3:13
Many of you are already mad
and I haven’t even gotten into the message; people get offended right off when
you speak in a negative way about their country music. However, the truth is --
I don’t like country music. My feeling about the music of bar room brawls,
cheating on your spouse, and drinking yourself silly is no better than watching
Jerry Springer on television. Where is there a lesson of morality for our youth
in that kind of music?
I used to try singing a
little country music when I was young. I had all the eight track tapes when I
was roaming around Garrard County, and I thought I was “pretty cool.” Today, I
am not blessed by the likes of George Jones singing I’ll Fly Away. And,
have you ever seen a bunch of drunks trying to sing, Amazing Grace? It
ain’t pretty! I cannot believe God is pleased with His people being a part of
that music scene. He is to come first -- that means in every aspect of your
life, including your preference of music.

Verse 12: Can the fig
tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? Either a vine, figs? so can no
fountain both yield salt water and fresh
It is sad to think that
some of our church people think they can dabble their feet in the country music
scene and still find favor with God, but you can’t! There is no room for
compromise in the church. I believe that is why the church has lost its
witness. We have too many “Country Music Christianity Churches.” If you
profess Christianity----live it.
Don’t act out Christian
faith if it’s not real. One of the things that make me sick is an “Act-like
Christian.” They are the ones who shake hands in
church on Sunday morning and talk about their good Christian walk, then go out
into the world before the sun goes down. At least, be honest with yourself.
Flip Wilson had it all
wrong: the devil does not make you do anything you do not want to do. Your
actions are your own choice. Today the church is weak because of mixed
messages. Too many Christian people are mingling around with the worldly crowd
and sinners are not being saved. The sinner will look at them and say, “Well,
if Ole’ So-and-So is going to Heaven, I don’t have anything to worry about.” On
the other hand, they will say, “If those people down there at that church are
living right, I’m okay cause’ I’m as good as they are.” I said before and I
will repeat it "The church is weak." False messages are being sent out by
country music Christians. There is too much confusion coming from the church.
What is a hypocrite? It is
people living a country music religion.
-
Verse
17: But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle,
and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality,
and without hypocrisy.
Our altars need to be
filled with people repenting. We need to cleanse our hands and minds. We need
to bring all our thoughts back to God. To live the life of country music
religion is not okay!!!! You need to sing a little of, “Draw Nigh to God.”
You can do two things with
today’s message. You can get mad, or get right! To get mad and never come
back to church can only lead you to being left behind
one day. I don’t want anybody to leave
today with filthy heart, hands and mind. Please bring
all of your problems to the Lord.
He can do far more for you than any country music
singer.
